1901 Madras. A letter between two high ranking members of the I.C.S. when Lord Curzon was Viceroy

The letter is written on all sides of folded sheet of writing paper, page size 7x 4½ ins, dated 2nd May 1901. The writer, later Sir Arundel Tagg Arundel, K.C.S.I. writes just a few days before taking up his position as a member of the Governor General’s Council [at this time that was Lord Curzon]. He regrets the short notice he has been given and expresses congratulations to the recipient [later Sir James Thomson, K.C.S.I.] on his appointment as a temporary member of the Council of the Governor of Madras. The letter retains its original envelope posted from Ootacamund on the 2nd and received the following day at Nungumbaukum, Madras the following day.
