5th Regt of Foot Northumberland Fusiliers. Officer’s 18mm button showing the regiment’s traditional badge of St George & the Dragon above the Roman numeral V. The backmark is C. PITT & Co. 50 ST. MARTINS LANE LONDON. This pattern was worn from 1855 to 1881 after which the regiment became the 1st & 2nd Bns. The Royal Northumberland Fusiliers. There are other versions of this button with an Arabic. The button has lost the original gilt finish although it is not badly worn . jul12/2
