A good example of the officer’s 25mm gilt button of the 83rd (County Dublin), the pattern in use from1855 to 1881 when the 83rd became the The Royal Irish Rifles. After Irish independence the regiment became part of the Royal Ulster Rifles. It has the backmark JENNENS & Co. LONDON. and retains almost full original gilt finish. jan31/3
