DELHI DURBAR 1911. The 39th Garhwal Rifles officers and other photographs.

On one side of an old card album page is a full plate group photograph titled Officers 39th Garhwal Rifles Delhi 1911 which measures 11½ x 8¼ ins. [29 x 21 cm] and shows arouns 50 officers, both British and Indian. The great majority of the sitters wear campaign medals. One of our illustrations shows the pages from the official dirctory naming the British officers of the two battalions present. The other side of the page shows five smaller [mainly 15 x 8.3 cm] very interesting photographs of Durbar events, labelled in ink: Dec.12th Delhi 1911; The Ruling Chiefs doing Homage, Delhi 1911 (Sikikm); R.H.A. Durbar Review; Watching the Badshahi Mela Garden Party at the Fort Delhi; Garden Party The Fort Delhi. jun3/1
Provenance: This leaf came from an old album which originally belonged to Brigadier Guy R. Mainwaring, who appears in the list here as a Lieutenant in 1-39 Garhwal Rifles.
