xliv, 283pp including 9pp casualties (Bengal), 169pp including 5pp casualties (Madras), 141pp including 4pp casualties (Bombay), [xviii advertisement], 10pp publisher’s list of New and Standard Works relating to the East. Later 20th century rebind in pebbled cloth gilt, spinespine loose from front joint but hinges sound, text block firm, complete and clean, old bookplate of Caledonian United Services Club to front pastedown but no other library or previous ownership markings, the only annotation noted is a promotion in the 1st Bombay Cavalry. Fully indexed lists of all serving and retired officers in the three Presidency armies, together with lists of civil servants, Indian Navy officers (down to Midshipmen), government officials, etc. A feature of the Register is the list of annual casualties with date and place of death, retirement, etc. This volume was published when the Lord William Cavendish Bentinck, G.C.B., G.C.H. was Governor General Commander-in-chief. jun11/5
