Late 20th century red leather gilt, one old stamp to the half title Caledonian United Services Club, blind stamp to the new ffep J Hayward.  Fully indexed lists of all serving and retired officers in the three Presidency armies, together with lists of civil servants, Indian Navy officers (down to Midshipmen), government officials, etc. A feature of the Register is the list of annual casualties with date and place of death, etc. This volume, published when the Lord Ellenborough was Governor General and General Sir Jasper Nicholls c.-in-c. lists the army as it was shortly after the 1st Afghan War [casualties list for example includes 3 lieutenant colonels Killed near Cabool, 18 officers of the 5th Bengal NI  meeting the same fate. may25/1
