H. H. the Maharaja of Jeypore with his Court, circa 1890

A fine late 19th century photograph titled H H the Maharajah  of Jeypore & Council . The group portrait measures 10½ x 7½ inches and it is mounted on an old album card leaf. The card is brittle and has missing areas the and photograph would benefit from being backed by fresh card. There are several small pin sized holed through the photograph and card but only three occur in a figure and that is on the left fringe of the group. This is the ruler of the small state in present state of Odisha [previously Orissa] to the north east of Hyderabad. The ruler, Vikram Dev III, was on the gadi from 1880 unti 1921. One of our illustrations shows how the photograph would look if it were put in a window mount to mask the unsightly damaged card. nov14/1   RESERVED 15th November 2025
