H. R. H. Prince Arthur, Duke of Connaught in military uniform


The 5½ x 3½ vintage photograph shows the Duke of Connaught waist length in uniform holding a general officer’s pattern mameluke sword. It is mounted on an old piece of thin card and probably dates from the 1890s. His illustrious military career saw him serving in Indian from 1886 to 1890 as Commander in Chief, Bombay and later, in 1903, he was take the place of his brother King Edward VII at the Coronation Durbar in Delhi.                           jan12/2
