H.R.H. Princess May, photographed at Balmoral in a tableau vivant

H.R.H. Princess May when Princess of Wales, later Queen Mary a 5¾ x 4 ins photograph of the princess in a tableau vivant on part of an old card album leaf. Although the photograph does not have credit it came from an old album where most of the images were by Robert Milne of Aboyne and date t the 1890s. These tableaux vivants were a popular entertainment at Balmoral in Victorian times and servants and courtiers were involved as well as members of the Royal Family. The other two characters in this image are not identified. jul24/1
