MINIATURE MEDAL GROUPS. Particularly ones with Indian connections.
POA
I am particularly interested in acquiring groups of mainly Victorian miniature medals with Indian connections. It is a bonus if these groups can be attributed to a particular person but unattributed ones are also interesting. The group shown here is especially interesting as it remains in a contemporary box with a metal bar with pin which has spaces for the five medals. Up to about 1870 there was little regulation or even common practice about the wearing of miniature medals and orders and they tended to be worn in whatever order the wearer chose or, in some cases, seemingly randomly worn aorund the chest. They were also worn with various orders of military dress and not reserved, as in more recent times, for mess dress or civilian evening dress. If you have medlas of this sorrt and wish to offer them to be for assessment, sale or exchange, please do not clean them or fit them with ne ribbons. I very much prize items which have not had any modern ‘improvement.
