A late Victorian carte de visite in very faded condition, identified on the verso as Thakor Shahib Takutsinji of Bhowanugger repeated on the front as H. H. Takutsinhji. He ruled from 1870 to 1896 and the card probably dates from the 1870s. The rulers of Bhavnagar in southern Gujarat achieved the status of Maharaja at the close of WWI. Like many Indian princely states there are many different spellings. aug19/1
