The Viceroy’s House, New Delhi, 1930s

Viceroy’s House. A large, 14 x 11 ins. artistic photograph of the central domed section of the Lutyens building framed through an arch against a stormy looking sky. The excellent sepia toned, unmounted photograph unfortunately has no photographer’s credit. It came to us in a folder of material which had belonged to one ot the Marquess of Linlithgow’s aides de camp when he was Viceroy in the late 1930s.       may15/3

Provenance: By descent from Captain W.A.G. Burns, Coldstream Guards. [later Major General Sir George]
