Viceroy’s House, New Delhi. A trooper of the Viceroy’s Bodyguard guarding the newly built house, early 1930s

£25.00

A good stereoscopic card by Keystone View Company, New York, London, &c. with a view of the newly built Viceroy’s House through an archway guarded by a mounted trooper of the Viceroy’s Bodyguard. The reverse of the card has considerable detail about the House, which was completed in 1929 to designs by Lutyens. Today it is known as the President’s Palace or Rashtrapati Bhavan.  A particularly striking image.   jul10/4
